Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) brands herself as a “progressive” in Congress who has spoken out against some of America’s war crimes. She’s now pimping on her “progressive cred” to shill for—and legitimize—the U.S. military. 

In March, AOC co-sponsored a “student services fair” at a high school in her district in the Bronx that featured “special guests” recruiting for various military academies. Those academies, like the Army’s West Point, train the top officer core of the U.S. military. When people called her out for her utter hypocrisy, her office sent a statement to Teen Vogue that admission to these academies is “a traditionally elite and complex process which is too often most accessible to those from connected, affluent backgrounds.” 

In other words, she was helping poor youth, predominantly Black and Brown, have easier access to serving at the upper reaches of this system’s military—where they could slaughter, bomb, terrorize and torture other oppressed people around the world in order to enforce U.S. domination. The only place this mouthpiece is leading anyone is to apply for a job in the butcher shop of U.S. imperialism.
